My #1 green resource

A disturbing pattern I see in the "going green" movement is the prevalence of misinformation. From the media to marketing campaigns, we're repeatedly hearing contradictory "truths" about product safety, which wouldn't be so dire, except we're talking about contradictions in regard to serious matters, such as levels of toxicity. For me, a reliable source continues to be the Environmental Working Group, who has a "team of scientists, engineers, policy experts, lawyers and computer programmers [that] pore over government data, legal documents, scientific studies and [their] own laboratory tests to expose threats to your health and the environment, and to find solutions. [Their] research brings to light unsettling facts that you have a right to know."  The truth is, the reliance on an inherent government safety net to protect consumers is overrated. There are no guarantees. That's why it's the responsibility of the individual to make educated and informed choices about how they're living.
